TAP presents a reinvented Business Class

TAP Portugal presented recently its "new" business class, best in terms of comfort and quality, with new menus created by Chef Vitor Sobral, who reinterprets typical Portuguese cuisine. The new TAP Executive class is updated from its decorating, lighting, quilts to replace traditional blankets, comfort kits and new a new table service. The new executive tap menus together a wide selection of fish dishes, poultry and meat dishes to traditional cod and octopus. Chef Vitor Sobral created 24 new main meal dishes, 18 garrisons for salads, 12 sauces / chutneys harmonized with the trimmings, six new soups, six new desserts and cold snacks for long flights. And for coffee, chestnut or chocolate are offered. The class now has a decor with patterned fabrics in shades of blue and gray carpets with notes in bright green. The lighting is softer during service. Old-fashioned blankets were replaced by traditional quilts.

 

Lisbon creates Film Commission

The Lisbon Municipal Council (CML) last week announced the creation of the Lisbon Film Commission, an entity to cut red tape in the permitting of filming in the Portuguese capital with collaboration from the Lisbon Tourism Association (ATL).

It will promote the city of Lisbon at the national and international levels as a preferred destination for filming and photo shoots, acting in making the city attractive and competitive for holding film production activities, audiovisual, new media and advertising.

Besides promoting the city as a destination for filming, the Lisbon Film Commission will also contribute to the tourism brand of the Portuguese capital. The Lisbon Film Commission will then ensure the procedures for filming in Lisbon, which will run through an electronic form, and also created the Counter Initiative Lisbon with a specialized support office.

 

Pico in the Azores to get a Thalasso Spa in 2014

The new "Fonte Spa Thalasso" on Pico will be the first Spa in the Azores with Thalassotherapy and unique local offerings.

The "Thalassotherapy" spa will open in 2014 at the Aldeia da Fonte in the Azores.
Apart from conventional products, it will launch an original set of menus based on the exceptional natural offerings of the Azores. The project, in collaboration with the University of the Azores, will feature a line of cosmetics based on Verdelho grapes and wine, and on the mineral water of the "Fonte" Pico is Portugal's highest point, 7,700 ft, and in the Central Group of Azores islands.
 

Algarve- a health and wellbeing destination

A new brand to promote the Algarve region as the perfect destination for health and wellbeing was presented in Faro earlier this month, aimed at attracting more tourists to the region.
The brand called ‘Algarve. Destination for Health and Wellbeing in Europe’ was presented during the first Congress on Health and Wellbeing Tourism in Faro this month. The event included the first general assembly of the Portuguese Association for Health and Wellbeing Tourism, during which the commission for this new organisation was formed.
Pais Clemente, one of the new commission members, is responsible for the creation of the brand, explained to Lusa News Agency that the association was created on a national level and will include members throughout Portugal, as well as all of the sub-products related to health and wellbeing tourism.
Mr. Clemente added that the idea is to “highlight Algarve as a tourist destination, as a way of attracting more tourists to the region.”
Among the aims are “to increase the profits of private partners who join” the brand but also to stimulate the economy.
 

Golden Year for Portugal at World Travel Awards: Portugal is top golf and beach destination

The 2012 World Travel Awards, hosted at the new Conrad Algarve Resort saw Portugal win seven awards. The Algarve region, the golfing industry and three hotels were among the winners.

Portugal scooped the following recognition; Europe’s Leading Golf Destination and Europe’s Leading Beach Destination, which saw the Algarve win the top award.

The Conrad Algarve Resort claimed the title Europe’s Leading New Resort; Vila Joya Resort was named Europe’s Leading Boutique Resort; Dunas Douradas Beach Club was named Europe's Leading Villa & Apartment Residences; Martinhal Beach Resort & Hotel received the award for Europe’s Leading Villa Resort and Quinta do Lago Hotel was elected the Mediterranean's Leading Hotel.
